Maybe it is time to have another in home evaluation for Mom. The latest news regarding the Domestic Help is that there are no volunteers available for her and Cope doesn't view her as qualified for the services that they offer. The suggestion from Cope is that we look into hiring one of the employees that work at the Shag Apartments where she lives to come in at an hourly rate periodically to help with some of the household chores.
Mom's TV picture was getting to be very BAD so I went to Best Buys and replaced her old unit with a new flat screen model and she seems to like it. I used the same remote that she was used to using.
We had another stressful event regarding her perscription medications where she did not get them called in properly for renewal.
Mom still complains of being "sick" almost every time I call her in the morning. Sometimes she seems to feel a little better later on in the day. We had a good time taking her out for lunch to the Country Buffet for her birthday (87th) and Snickers and Popcorn were there with us along with a dear friend from church. One of the things she got for her birthday was a clock that not only tells the day, month and year but also the "day of the week".
She called tonight to tell about the Bible Study she attended in the community room there at the apartments. It went well. But then she said that she canceled her appointment with the Dr. this Thursday. I asked why and she said that she didn't have a ride.
Ladybug and I always take her to all her Dr. appointments and do her shopping for her and everything and if for some reason there is a schedule conflict we always make other arrangements for her but she said that she thought Ladybug told her we were not going to be available. This is either a total fabrication or she is imagining things to be real that are not. I asked when she cancelled the appointment and she said today.
I told her to call the Dr. first thing in the morning and see if she can get the appointment back again if nobody has already snatched the time slot up and then call me and let me know if they can do it. She said she would.

Yay! Mom called and said that she got her appointment rescheduled for this Thursday at 1:30PM and asked me to call her Thursday morning to reminder her of it.
ReplyDeleteVery good Elvis, I truly believe she is having the memory problems and does get mixed up with life. What has come up with the house cleaning issue. Anything? I thought that was part of a birthday present for her having a gal come in once or twice a month. I do feel all three of us kids should think about splitting the bill on that. But then mom likely has the money to pay for that too. Let me know. Snickers
ReplyDeleteThe Dr. appointment on 5-6 went well and mom did ok. Dr. had her do some blood work and wanted to see her again in two weeks and might do some scans to look for possible cause of memory problems. I picked up some info on "Family Resource Home Care" at the check out and decided to keep an informal log of my calls to mom and how she feels since she is resistant to keeping a journal for herself.

Sat. 5-8 Sick.
Sun. 5-9 9AM too sick to dress for church.
Mon. 5-10 1PM Feeling good today.
Tue. 5-11 OK but woosie. Ladybug did grocery shopping for her.
Wed. 5-12 11AM Sounded good - was just out of shower. Forgot it was prayer meeting day but was ready for us when we went to pick her up for church.
Thu. 5-13 1:30PM Not very "spunky" this morning. (?)
Fri. 5-14 1PM No answer. Was out walking and visiting. Nice day. Said she had a slow start but doing better now 3:30PM.
Sat. 5-15 No call.
Sun. 5-16 9AM up and dressed for church. Good day. Tired after church. Home 3PM.
Mon. 5-17 3PM No answer and no return call.
Tue. 5-18 1PM Sounded good. Enjoyed Bible Study in community room Mon night. Drank a fortified last night before going to bed. Did laundry today and it is all folded. Told me this twice. Said she thought she called me last night after the Bible Study. No. 2:30PM mom called and told me again that the Bible Study last night was good. Forgot that I talked to her about that less than two hours ago. I called her again 9PM and she sounded OK and was watching the Mariners.
Wed. 5-19 10AM Mom called Ladybug with a shopping list and sounded good. When Ladybug delivered the shopping list items she reminded mom that we would be by at the usual time for prayer meeting. Mom said she didn't know if she could make it. 4:30PM Mom called and said she had a sore throat and wouldn't make to to prayer meeting. I reminded her of her Dr. appointment tomorrow at 2PM.
